Decoupage for today

Hi everybody,

Jill here, I hope you're all well.  I've got a bit of simple, modern decoupage to share with you today...

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks of decoupage as maybe being a little dated, and it conjuring up images of little quaint cottages etc, but as soon as I saw this gorgeous set from Paper Smooches, I knew I wanted to decoupage this little beauty right up!

...and hopefully put a little modern twist on it with a CAS design

I stamped out my image, from Paper Smooches 'Best Buds', (an amazing set with a fresh modern take on florals - the stamps are almost tattoo like in their design - very cool), several times, and coloured them all the same using my Zig Real Brush Colour Pens and water.  I then worked out which bits would go where, what would be at the back, what would be at the front, (Ok Ok, it's a tiny simple design, it wasn't exactly brain surgary!), and cut out accordingly.  I washed a small section on my card panel in Peacock Feathers and Mustard Seed Distress Ink, and built up my decoupaged banner over the top, using tiny slithers of foam tape to give depth and dimension.
I wanted to keep everything clean and crisp, so matted onto some black card, and that was that.

I really hope you like it, as always, everything is linked up below so be sure to go have peek.

See you next week.

Jillx

Like a smitten kitten...

Hi everyone,

Just a quickie to share my second effort at a 'cute and fun' creation to join in the fun over at the paper smooches blog challenge, in celebration of their third birthday!

It's valentines day tomorrow, so I thought 'why not make a love themed card?'  ...and why not indeedy...after all...'all you need is love' :)

I'm not really much of a 'girly girl', but I LOVE bubblegum pink on ANYTHING!!!  It's such a fun colour and I thought, 'what the hey, let's go all out!'.  I love the idea of these two little creatures being 'smitten' with each other - they may seem ill-matched, but love conquers all doesn't it? ...Well, I'm rooting for them in any case, and if I wrote the story, I guess I get to write the ending, and for those who want to know...
they make it :)

The sunburst background is a hero arts stamp which I have heat embossed onto kraft card, and the sweet sweet couple are coloured using pro-markers.

Hope you like...and oh, if you don't like my version...please feel free to create your own :)

my valentine...

Hi,  I thought I would share the Valentine's card I made for my lovely Lee...

We're not one of these couples who go all out on valentine's day - we tend to show each other how much we care every day :) ...but as a card maker, there's a fair amount of pressure to come up with the goods eh?  I wanted to make something sweet and simple, but very personal too us...so here it is, hope you like it x

he shall have a fishy...

Wow...it's been a while!  And what a surprise, I make my return with a paper smooches challenge :)

Well, why not eh?  I love them, and they're celebrating their 3rd birthday with a fabulous giveaway...so I thought I'd try my luck.

The only specifics for the challenge were for it to be a 'new project', and something 'cute and fun'...which, when using paper smooches, is pretty inevitable!

So here goes - first effort :-

...In my head, it's the pelican's birthday - he's even got his little party hat on - and this fella wants fish for his dinner :)  ... although the fishies are clearly oblivious and still have their lovely little smiles on :/ ...I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years and am now starting to feel a little guilty lol!

The 'water' background is a blend of distress inks to give dimension, and the wee fellas are coloured using pro-markers.

Hope you like xxx

Paper smooches Sparks challenge...

Hi everyone,

Display our button

Just a quick post to show my entry to this week paper smooches sparks challenge.

The challenge this week was 'picture perfect', where by you use a certain picture as your inspiration...and run with it!  So here's the 'inspiration' picture...

I took my inspiration from the neautral colour palette, and here's my creation...

The idea I had in my head was to make it look like little portrait pictures of the paper smooches 'chubby chums' hanging on a wall, I do love these cute little critters and the idea that they're all from one happy family is just too cute!  I stamped the images in distress ink and used a water brush to water colour them and give a kind of 'sepia'effect.  I made the picture frames out of brown card stock and stamped the woodgrain effect on using a hero arts stamp with more distress ink.  The background is patterned paper and the sentiment is from the same, delightful, 'chubby chums' stamp set.

Hope you like it xxx

p.s ...any comments are very much appreciated...I'd love to know what you think :)
