Hero Tones...

I'm sharing another card I have made for the current challenge going on over at the awesome A Blog Named Hero, where this time round the theme is 'Tone On Tone'.

And here's my card...

I'm slightly obsessed with trying to create the perfect spearmint colour using my Distress Inks at the minute as there just isn't one in the family so far (come on Tim - gimme a spearmint!), so went with that as my chosen tone.

  

I started by mixing my Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, & Tumbled Glass), with water, and washing my card through them, making sure to create interesting spots of pools and splashes, and left to dry.  I then mixed some transparent texture paste with the remaining ink to create my own,matching tone, translucent paste; it's so cool, almost like a seaglass!  I then applied my pretty paste onto my card panel using Hero Arts Triangle Pattern stencil.  Whilst that was drying I dry inked another piece of card, using the same mix of colours, to use as my back piece, and cut 3 of these pretty little doily shapes using a Spellbinders die.  I then cut a small banner flag from my card panel and one of the die-cuts, and adhered the die over-top, then adding the remaining dies to the top and bottom of my piece, trimming accordingly to create a continuation pattern.  I lined up my aperture to allow me to see where I wanted to stamp my sentiment, which is from Hero Arts Essential Messages set, stamped through using Versafine Onyx black ink, and clear heat embossed.  I adhered my panel to my background using foam tape to give dimension, making more of a feature of my aperture sentiment, and added a couple of pieces of ribbon cut into a flag and a tag.  

I embellished with a scattering of enamel dots, and there you have it.

A Touch of Tone on Tone...

I'd love to share a card I have made for the current challenge going on over at the always awesome, A Blog Named Hero, and this time round, it's all about 'Tone on Tone'.

And here's my card...

Sometimes, when I haven't got time to get into my craft room to play, I'll write lists of techniques I want to try, and cards I want t make...and a Tone on Tone design was next up on my list of things to try!  So when I saw what the challenge was this month, I was over the moon!

I started by creating a loose watercolour wash on a piece of cardstock using Distress Inks, adding water drops, and flicks of both white and shimmer sprays.  Once dry, I took a heart stencil by Echo Park, and, using the same Distress Inks, lightly blended over the top, fading out from one corner.  I then went back over all my hearts with a wet brush to re-activate the ink and give them a watercolour look, and left to dry.  While that was drying, I inked up another piece of card, using the same tonal inks to use as my back panel.  I took my Hero Arts 'Thank you for being my friend' set, and stamped out this lovely sentiment, onto vellum, and cut into a little flag.  I wrapped some Lawn Fawn twine around my card, and added my vellum over the top using some strategically placed glue, and stapled in place.  I then added a little tie of the same twine just for a sweet little touch.

I added a good scattering of sequins, teeny hearts and stars from a Lucy Abrams mix in my stash, mounted the whole thing onto a card base, and there you have it.

I really hope you like it, I really enjoyed making it and love the tone on tone look!

Mini Flags Rainbow...

I'd like to share a card I have made for the March Challenge going on over at the, always awesome, A Blog Named Hero, where this time round, it's all about the Rainbow.  And as if the theme wasn't cool enough, they're collaborating with the mighty Avery Elle - good stuff, ey?  This is my second entry as, well, I just couldn't stop at one :)

And here's my card...

I started by creating a piece of rainbow card using my Copics on a piece of white card, then cut Avery Elle's Thank You Elle-ments die from it, cutting it from a piece of white foam at the same time to add behind for dimension.  I stamped out Hero Arts Tiny Flags Background in black Versafine, and clear embossed, then cut the same Avery Elle die from it, to allow me to in-lay my rainbow die-cut back in.

I used a handful of the same Copics to colour the negative spaces in my background to add an extra splash of rainbow colour, which I then coated in a slick of Wink of Stella, and a good covering of Glossy Accents, doing the same with my die-cut sentiment.

I then matted my piece onto black card which i had edged with clear Wink of Stella, and mounted onto a white card base.

Now you can see the card, it's pretty trippy to look at in anycase, which I really like, but I thought it was already more than enough so left it there.

A Strawberry Rainbow...

Jill here and today I would like to share with you the card I have made for the current challenge going on over at the awesome A Blog Named Hero, and this time round the challenge is Rainbow and the collaboration partners are Avery Elle.  Well, what more could you wish for - A Blog Named Hero, Avery Elle, and Rainbows?

And here's my card...

 I went with a sweet and simple design using Avery Elle's Berry Good set. 

 I started by drawing a circle in the top centre of my card panel, took this gorgeous cute little strawberry from the Berry Good set, and stamped it out around the circle using Hero Arts Black Ink. I then coloured these adorable little strawberry's using various Distress Inks as watercolours, in all the colours of the Rainbow. I then stamped out my sentiment from the same Berry Good set and clear heat embossed. I then went back over my strawberries giving them a lick of a Wink of Stella and a coat of Glossy Accents.

 I then matted my panel onto a piece of black card, and mounted the whole thing onto a white card base. 

I wanted to keep my card really clean & simple so decided to leave it there.
