Birds On A Wire

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I’ve got a string of sweet birds sitting on a wire...

...using Lawn Fawn’s superb Simply Celebrate.

I used this set last week and as I had it out was looking at it and thought, ‘wouldn’t it be brilliant if those little balloons fit nicely behind those little birdies as if they were holding them....’ and low & behold, they did! Those smart cookies over at Lawn Fawn think of everything!

So straight away a little scene popped into my head if a string of sweet birds sitting on a wire sending celebratory messages!

I started by stamping all my elements out; the balloons from Simply Celebrate and the trees from Lawn Fawn’s Joy To The Woods I stamped directly onto my base card, and the string of birdies I stamped onto a separate piece of card. I then coloured everything using my trusty Zigs for ease and speed. I fussy cut around my birds leaving a thin white edge that I then coloured to blend in with my background.

I then cut the thinnest piece of black card to act as the ‘wire’ the birds are sitting on, and Waffle Flower’s adorable Tiny Twine Bow to tie it to the trees. I stamped my sentiment, again from Lawn Fawn’s Simply Celebrate, onto my card and heat embossed in red.

I finished by adding a layer of Glossy Accents to my birdies beaks and my bright balloons, and there you have it.

I really hope you like it.

See you next week.

Picnic With Friends

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week I’m having a picnic...

...with Mama Elephant’s Picnic With Friends.

Such a sweet little set, the illustrations just come to life conjuring up daydreams of hazy sunny days having a picnic in the park with your pals.

I started by stamping out all of my elements and coloured them using pencils, the designs just seemed to call out for the sweet naive look of pencil colouring. Once everything was coloured, I cut out and set aside.  I then created a soft blended spotlight background, again, using pencils and adding a wee free hand grass verge.

Although I love having a simple focal point on my cards I felt the background called for something else so made a rough mask to cover my pencil colouring and stamped Lawn Fawn’s Gingham Backdrop over-top - what more perfect background for a picnic scene?!

I stamped out my sentiment form the Picnic With Friends set onto my sky and hear embossed in white.

I built up my scene using foam tape, matted my panel onto yellow card and added the whole thing onto a cream card base.

I really hope you like it, as always everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.

The Dog's Woof's Wicked Party!

Hi everybody,

Jill here and this week, I’ve got a rad doggy party for you...

Using the utterly incredible, The Dog’s Woof, from Mama Elephant.

These kind of ‘group shot’ designs that Mama Elephant have come out with recently are just beyond brilliant. They make colouring so fun, coming up with different designs and personalities for each one of the ‘gang’, and being able to change the look so easily with your colouring. Just brilliant.
I started by stamping out my doggy crew and heat embossing in clear to make life easier when it came to colouring. I then coloured using my Zigs with water.
I stamped out the balloons from Mama Elephant’s Up And Away, created a mask, and stamped out again and again creating a whole cluster of balloons, which I then coloured in lovely bright colours using my Zigs again. I also created a quick background wash with the help of my magnificent Zigs once more, and adding a few flicks of white for added interest.

My sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Occasional Labels and is stamped out, clear heat embossed, and fussy cut.
I then cut around all of my elements and adhered in place using foam tape, adding some silver thread behind as the balloon strings and using the foam tape to keep them in place.

I am a dog obsessive - no joke - I recently even landed my dream job of working a rehoming centre, so this set was an absolute ‘must-have’ for me and I LOVE it! I actually can’t wait to use it again...and again and again and again...

I hope you like the dog crew party!
As always, everything I used is linked below.

see you next week.
