Tiny Hearts and Lots of Love

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I'm getting all romantic...

...using the beautiful Love Quotes from Mama Elephant with a scattering of Tiny Hearts from Altenew and even more Tiny Hearts from Paper Smooches.

If I had to choose my all time favourite sentiment, it would be this one...'And suddenly all the love songs were about you'.  I'm a sucker for soppy and I just think it's so beautiful, so romantic to let your special someone know how you feel.  It's perfect for anniversaries, Valentine's Day, but you know what, it's perfect for just letting your special someone know they still give you butterflies, anytime!
I started by stamping out the adorable Tiny Hearts from Altenew across the top of my background, allowing them to gradually fade out towards the bottom, then ink blending over the top in a variety of pink inks to create an ombré effect emboss resist.  I then added a few sprinkles of water to pick up some of the ink adding interest & texture.

I stamped out my sentiment onto vellum and heat embossed in white;  I always think white embossing on vellum looks romantic!  I then cut my vellum into a banner shape and adhered in place with tiny dots of clear glue so it wouldn't show through.
I then covered a piece of card in a white sparkle embossing powder and cut a load of Paper Smooches Tiny Hearts from it which I then used to sprinkle around my card.

I finished by added a bow of white string to bring my design together.

I really hope you like it and it makes you want to express your soppy side too :)

As always, everything I used is linked below so be sure to stop by the store and check out the rest of the lovey dovey sentiments on this awesome set.

See you next week.

Hip Hip Hooray!

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week I'm giving it some Hip Hip Hooray to celebrate a happy couple...

...using the awesome & 'out there' Hooray from Waffle Flower.

I'm going crazy for all things Waffle Flower at the minute.  They just bring such a breath of fresh air to my collection.  They're weird and wonderful with a good measure of wacky, (there's actually a stamp of a duck in a wig in this set :) a duck. in a wig. don't believe me - check it out here), which is all the kinds of crazy I LOVE.  Amazing.

I teamed the Hooray set up with Sunday Sentiments from Mama Elephant to create a slightly less conventional 'Happy Engagement' card.
I started by stamping out the 'Congratulations' line form Sunday Sentiments.  This sentiment set is still one of my all time favourites.  I just love that my sentiment can give me the grounding for any scene I want to set up!  I then stamped all my cool and kooky characters and flowers all around.  I wanted the sweet happy couple to look like they were giddy with delight at their own happy news and dancing around their 'Congratulations' message.  I added a scattering of hearts and coloured everything using my Zigs.
I didn't spend too much time perfecting my colouring as I don't think that's what a set like this is about.  It's about fun and freedom and just letting yourself go with the flow!

I stamped out my remaining sentiments to complete my message from Sunday Sentiments and Hooray, onto black card & white heat embossed and added them to my card using foam tape for some added dimension.  I also added another layer to my fun flower again just to add some dimension.

I really hope you like it, and these new cool designs are floating your boat as much as they are mine!

As always, everything I used is linked below so give yourself a giggle and head straight over to check out a duck in a wig!

See you next week.

I'm happiest when floating in the sea.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I'm indulging in my favourite past-time of  'floating in the sea'...

...using Flora and Fauna's delightful Mermaid's Kisses.

I am loving the store's newest brand, Flora and Fauna.  Their style is so unique, so playful and whimsical.  They allow me to just have fun instead of over thinking style and design.  The illustrations have such a wonderful naivety to them, as if they have been picked straight from a dream.  I just love em'!.
My card was a case of me simply wanting to have fun, I just wanted to stamp out the gorgeous images and watercolour my day away.
I thought it would be fun to set up a scene from the perspective of the bottle being at the fore-front of the picture, as if closest to the lens we are looking through, with all the wonderful sea life going on behind.

My favourite thing about this set is the sentiment, it could not be more true for me 'I'm happiest when floating in the sea', I simply could not resist.
I thought it would be fun to add a shaker element to the mix so stamped two of the bottles onto vellum, filled the middle with all types of deliciousness such as glitter and sequins, and sealed the edges.

After adding a good amount of flicks and splashes across my scene, I added my bottle using clear tape strategically placed so as not to show up on the front.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable time making this card, I find the Flora and Fauna stamps help me drift off and get lost in a world of my own where I'm not giving myself a hard time about imperfections.  Sometimes, it's allowing the imperfections that makes your crafty time perfect :)

I really hope you like it.

Cascading Mermaid's Tail.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I've got a cascading mermaid's tail for you...

...using My Favourite Thing's brilliant Cascading Scallops Stencil.

If any of you are like me and into your beauty goodies, (which I find a lot of crafters are, it's like crafting on your face really which is why I like it :) ), you might recognise the inspiration behind my card as there's a certain beauty box i took the idea from after seeing their cover design for the month of September.
Mermaids and all things related are everywhere at the minute, and when I first saw the pattern on this particular beauty box, the beautiful Cascading Scallops stencil from My Favourite Things jumped to the front of my thoughts and I thought 'ooooh I'm giving that a blast!'.

So I started by covering my stencil in Versmark Ink and running it through my Big Shot so that the stencil acts as an embossing folder, transferring the ink onto the card at the same time and to which I then heat embossed using a gold powder.  I then coloured my scallops/mermaid tail scales using a variety of Distress Inks as watercolour.
My sentiment is made up from Mama Elephant's Birthday Script Creative Cut which I cut from card and covered in several layers of the same gold embossing powder, and my 'Happy' is from Neat & Tangled's Everyday Labels set, and again is stamped out out and heat embossed in gold.

I anchored my sentiment to my card with one of Lawn Fawn's Puffy stars cut from vellum which gives extra texture and creates more of a focal point.
I loved how my background turned out and really wanted the card to be all about that so left it there.

I really hope you like.  It blows my mind how a humble stencil can be used in so many ways, a stencil, a stamp, and an embossing folder!  Amazing little tools they are and so affordable!

As always, everything I used is linked below so be sure to have a peek.

See you next week.
