Soak up the fun in a sea of vellum.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and this week, I'm making a splash in a sea of vellum...

...using My Favourite Thing's 'Soak Up The Fun'.

I started with an idea to create a circle aperture of coloured vellum waves with these cute sea critters swimming in amongst them, but when I was looking through my circle dies, I came across this absolute beaut, 'Hoop Die', form Neat and Tangled that I hadn't used in a while, and thought it would add a nice little twist on the scene, so opted for that.

I started by cutting a panel using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangles, then cutting the hoop die from it.  I then cut the hoop die again to build the frame up, and in-laid it back in.  I cut strips of vellum using Mama Elephant's Landscape Trio cloud die upside down to create waves and coloured using alcohol markers.  I then adhered these to the back of my hoop aperture, creating pretty wave layers.  I stamped out my critters, coloured using Copics, fussy-cut, and adhered in place, bobbing about on the ocean!

My sentiment is from the same Soak up the Fun set, and is stamped out onto the banner from Avery Elle's Woodland Wonders set, and fussy-cut.  To add a little more interest to my background, I stamped out a load of the little bubbles that come in the set, and filled them with Glossy Accents.

I then mounted my finished panel onto a cream card blank, and there you have it.

I really hope you like it, as always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.

Clean, and Sew Simple, die-cutting...

Hi everybody,

A quick post to share a card I have made for this month's challenge going on over at Neat and Tangled, Little Tangles challenge blog, where this time round, it's all about the 'Die-cutting'.

And here's my card...

I used Neat and Tangled's 'Hoop die' as the main element for my card, and kept my design very Clean and simple.

I started by cutting my Hoop from a piece of graph paper a couple of times, the second time leaving plenty of room in the surrounding area from where I cut a scalloped circle, as the kind of 'skirting' around my embroidery hoop.  I also cut the Hoop die form a piece of wood veneer, and the extra hinges & pin from a couple of pieces of card I had embossed in gold and silver sparkle powder.
I then die-cut a heart from the centre of my hoop, and heat embossed the positive piece in red embossing powder, then another layer of sparkle embossing powder, and in-laid back in.  I then stamped out my sentiment from Neat and Tangled's 'Crafting is my jam' in black ink and clear heat embossed.
I then took a panel of kraft card, and dry embossed it using a wood grain folder, and mounted all my elements upon it, off-centre, and snipping off the over-hang.

I wanted to keep my card completely CAS so, after mounting onto a white card base, left it there.  In hindsight, I really wish I'd added a twirl of twine beneath my hoop as I think it would have finished my card perfectly...but that's the thing with hindsight right?...it always comes a little late!

I really hope you like it and would love to read your comments so please feel free to leave them.

See you next time.

Faux Cross Stitch Cutey...

Hi everybody,

It's Jill here, and this week, I've got a little bit of cross stitch for you!

I've been so excited to play with this Neat and Tangled Hoop die for a while now, and it is BACK IN STOCK!  So perfect time to show it some love.

I thought it would be fun to create a little cross stitched scene, using another stamp set, within the little hoop, so chose the Playful Pups set from Mama Elephant.
I found a piece of patterned paper that had a grid on it, so was perfect, but you could definitely create your own, or pick up a cheap pad of grid paper.  I stamped my cute little Playful Pup out, and created a little scene around him using elements from Mama Elephant's 'In My Heart'.  I then coloured my little scene by drawing a tiny little cross in each box, in various colours, exactly like you would 'stitch' in an actual cross stitch.
I cut the Hoop Die from some kraft card, which I had stamped with a wood grain background, so it looks like a real wooden hoop, and cut the screw part from a piece of card I had heat embossed in gold powder.

I wanted my card to look like it had been lifted directly from a wall in a small old cosy cottage, so stamped my background panel using a wallpaper-esque design, and aged using Distress Ink.  My sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Bloomsies set and is stamped onto cream card and fussy cut.  I added a doily and a twirl of twine behind my cross-stitch, and mounted it all onto my background panel, embellishing with a scattering of pearls, and adding the whole thing to a kraft card base.

I really enjoyed this little project and can only begin to imagine how many possible 'cross stitches' we could all create using our collections!
I hope you like it, and that you give it a go!

As always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.
